Make Your Team Healthier with Thanks

Adam Grant recently pointed out a peer reviewed study that indicates expressions of gratitude for your team members improved their cardiovascular response to stress. In simpler terms, thank someone and make them healthier.

Good book for further learning about…well…your brain.

Past research has shown it takes roughly five times the number of positive comments to overcome the impact of a single negative comment. That’s one reason I’ve stressed for years that leaders need to overcommunicate the positive. Don’t make things up, but put in the extra effort to think about your team members’ contributions and tell them about the good stuff.

It’s also just straight up a Good Thing to do. People like to know their work matters. Which we’ve known for years, but now, you know…there’s science.
